Join Raíces Cultural Center to learn the foundations of this Caribbean traditional art form. These open, public classes will introduce the rudiments of bomba dance and explore the cultural significance and history of the genre.
Raícitas Family Arts and Culture classes are intended for families with children 10 and under. If you are interested in classes for children aged 11-14, please contact the center to let them know. A guardian must remain present at all times for children and youth programs. Registration is limited to the first 8 families per session, please sign up early!
During the series:
– Share stories and cultural traditions related to the music and songs of Caribbean traditional arts.
– Learn and practice dance steps and rhythmic patterns to accompany them.
– Learn the use of Call and Response (Antiphony) for songs

Street parking in Highland Park is free and umlimited aside from Raritan Avenue.
There is a public parking lot about half a block away from the site, at the Highland Park Native Plant Preserve.
