Creative Aging: Cultural Arts Classes for Age 55+

Registration is now open for the 2024 Spring Cycle Creative Aging classes offered in partnership with the Highland Park Department of Aging in Highland Park, New Jersey. We are so excited to offer these classes in our community and we truly cannot wait to move and groove with our neighbors.

In this program, Caribbean Drum, Song & Dance Classes will be offered every Tuesday, April 9th – June 25th from 2:00pm to 3:30pm, free of charge to participants. Please call to register (732)819-0052.

During the class series, attendees will:

– Explore the history and cultural significance of Afro-Caribbean cultural arts.

– Learn how to recognize and identify Afro-Caribbean rhythms such as Bomba and Güiro.

– Learn how to execute the basic steps that are danced to Afro-Caribbean rhythms.

– Learn the use of Call and Response (Antiphony) in song to complement the music and dance.
