Join HPRS’s Consort Studio in central New Jersey! Monthly sessions in ensemble playing for intermediate level recorder players to play Baroque music with other instruments under a skilled conductor, with professional accompaniment.

These events will be led by conductor, recorder player, and harpsichordist, Steven Russell (see below). It is an opportunity to play a variety of Baroque literature for small ensembles, through rehearsal, instruction, and demonstration, and end with the option to play the lead alto part with a professional ensemble. We will have opportunities to warm up on Renaissance music with SATB recorders, so bring all sizes. Register early to receive the music in advance.

Dates: Second Saturday of each month, 1– 4:15 pm with 10-min. break

April 13 – Focus on the music of Johann Joachim Quantz (1697-1773), Sonata in C Major for recorder, flute and Basso continuo.

May 11 – Exploration of the music of Johann Georg Linike (ca.1680-1762), Sonata for 2 recorders, cello and Basso continuo

June 8 – Study music of Gottfried Finger (1660-1730), Sonata for 2 recorders, cello and Basso continuo

Location: Reformed Church of Highland Park, 19-21 South Second Avenue, Highland Park, NJ

There is plenty of parking at the location, which is only a short walk from the New Brunswick, NJT train station. A ride from the station to the session and back can be arranged if you need it. Just email recorderdonna@gmail.com.
